The 21st Century Classroom must prepare and allow students to learn and engage with a skill set that will allow them to success in both college and eventual career. Learning important skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking is essential along with the important content that serves as a foundation. In order to accomplish this teachers must find ways to integrate web tools to promote this necessary facilitation allowing students to become familiar with skills that will be required in the post K12 experience. Paents should be encouraged to examine the different tools and discuss their use with their children. While it is important to promote proper digital citizenship at school, the same must happen at home whether it be a school laptop, cell phone, or a home device. In the space below these tools are listed with a link, description, approval status, Terms of Agreement, and their Privacy Policy.

Google Apps - This includes the online suite of productivity and digital resources from Google such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, and graphic organizers. It also allows students to work collaboratively on a project through shared documents. It even includes an area for storage allowing for seamless work on documents both at home, school, or anywhere. Autodesk123D - The Autodesk 123D community is a place to design, create and share anything. No matter your technical skills and experience, you will always have a place to get the latest tools and information to support your adventures in 3D printing. Notes - This is a site that allows users to download free versions of autodesk software for 3D modeling. Do we already have autodesk 3D modeling software that we can give these students? Will they have the rights to install? This site lets students store their work on the site. They can also share their projects when they are finished. The saving and sharing part seems to be the only reason for a login. Can we save locally? Users can purchase 3D models of things they create with these tools. District will not be responsible for these costs.
BiblioNasium - This is a site that is dedicated to the critical belief that all kids can fall in love with reading. Consistent support and just the right book can ignite the spark. As a result of direct input from a stellar group of educators, librarians and classroom teachers, the site has now grown tremendously since its original conception. Part kids social network, part parent’s guide, part educator's tool, BiblioNasium blends technology with personal connection to create a supportive, engaging space for reading success. CK12Flex - This open source book collection provides outstanding classroom resources for free helping districts keep their textbook rental fees to a minimum. The site allows for student sign up in order to allow for formative instruction. It also allows for other tools to be used including FlexMath, Braingenie, and Stoodle. Diigo - This is a site allowing for students to bookmark items they wish to research and store in the clouds. In this manner these bookmarks for research tasks are available anytime and anywhere for students. It also allows for student collaboration on resource materials. It is also a powerful research site allowing students to annotate and mark up sources as is part of many post K12 classrooms. .Khan Academy - This is a well known education site with instructional videos that can assist students in their learning. While watching the videos does not require an account, an student account could be helpful. It is recommended that parents work with their children to set up an account. They can then assign their teachers as a coach if the teacher is using Khan. In this manner it can be passed on to other teachers in future years. Notes - Teacher must first create an account. Students can then join a teacher's class using one of the following methods. Teacher enter student with out email... using system that requires parent permission. Students creates an account (note they will need to have parent email for permission if 13 or under) and then signs up using the coaches area of site using class code. Resources are aligned to state and national standards and include videos and interactive activities, as well as audio, documents, and in-depth lesson plans. While a student does not have to have an account to watch a video, a student account maybe requested by the teacher. XtraMath - XtraMath uses timed quizzes and practices to encourage students to answer the questions as quickly as possible combined with spaced repetition to efficiently develop recall. The three-second threshold is carefully selected to be long enough to type in a recalled answer but not long enough for the student to comfortably enter a counted or calculated answer. MobyMax - This is a completely integrated curriculum and teacher tools system. MobyMax combines curriculum resources like placement tests, adaptive lessons, progress monitoring, and IEP reporting with teacher tools, such as Clicker (a student response system), Vibes (a behavior management system), Messenger (a communication system), The Wall (a social wall for homework assignments and class communication), and motivational features (badges, games, and contests). It is under pilot in the district. Any parent who has a student in one of the few classes it is being piloted in will sign a separate permission form that will be held with that teacher. Thinglink - ThingLink is the leading platform for creating interactive images and videos for web, social, advertising, and educational channels. Be creative! Make your images come alive with video, text, images, shops, music and more! Every image contains a story and ThingLink helps you tell your stories. Notes - This site tries to link videos and music to a picture. It tries to pull this content from YouTube, Vimeo, and other online sites. These sites will be blocked for students. The images people upload could cause issues due to images not being filtered. Also there is no control over use of copyrighted images or other content.
Weebly - In this education version students have the ability to build websites and publish for an authentic audience. Students have the opportunity to perfect both writing and design skills. This tool is used in classrooms across the nation and Weebly was named one of TIME’s 50 Best Websites. Students are encouraged to use the school edition through their teacher. XtraMath - XtraMath uses timed quizzes and practices to encourage students to answer the questions as quickly as possible combined with spaced repetition to efficiently develop recall.
